Manager and ballet dancer put their creative skills to the test

Former Urbino Home Buyer and Oregon Ballet Theatre Dancer Purchase NE Broadway Boutique. Hoping to combine their experience in business, interior design and the creative arts, Chris DeMellier and Jenifer Steele purchase House Dressing at 1811 NE Broadway and plan to evolve the store into a destination for those looking for something unexpected.

December 30 2003--Jenifer Steele, former Manager and Buyer for NW 23rd home furnishings boutique, Urbino Home, recently purchased House Dressing at 1811 NE Broadway. After 7 successful years with Urbino, it was time to take the leap, says Ms. Steele. This is something Ive wanted for quite some time, but the right opportunity just never materialized until now. House Dressing was successful with vintage furnishings and gifts. Along with her husband Chris DeMellier, recently retired Oregon Ballet Theatre dancer, Jenifer plans to take the current concept and expand it into a boutique featuring unique and luxurious bed and bath products. I love textiles and color and I believe a bedroom should be an escape a nest of sorts. Most of us lead crazy lives- we should at least go to sleep and wake in a peaceful, cozy space. I can help people create that in their homes.

Bedding won't be the only reason to shop at House Dressing. Unique and affordable gifts and home accessories will also be an integral part of the boutique. "Customers have come to expect fun, affordable and unexpected gifts and treats! That won't change. House Dressing will only be getting better", says Chris DeMelllier.

Jenifer will be available for complimentary consultations as well as more in-depth design help. House Dressing will feature popular lines like Bella Notte linens, Marvis Italian toothpaste and Archipelago candle and bath products. Future plans include developing private bedding and bath lines and importing European apothecary products.

House Dressing is located at 1811 NE Broadway, Portland, OR 97232 and is open 7 days a week M-F 10 am-6pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-4pm.
